It's an interesting article, but one that definitely relies on the idea of gravel streets still continuing to exist into the future. I think the real future of smart cities is to implement smart roads - roads built to charge themselves from the sun and then continue to charge electric vehicles as they drive on them. These roads would be much more accurate and efficient at creating the cities of the future.
